Elliot Rodger was mentally ill. He had multiple doctors and therapists. He had been on medications. He had a personality disorder of some sort and depression. Police showed up at his house to check on his welfare this year because they got a call that said he was suicidal. Rodger, however, talked himself out of getting hospitalized.

He was also a sexist misogynist mens right activist, who happened to have a lot of money. He wrote a 141 page manifesto of his life, and in much of this written document he discussed his hatred of women. He thought that women should be put in concentration camps and starved. To say the least, Rodger had very disturbed and distorted thoughts. This is a result of the rape culture that we live in.

He can both be mentally ill and be a sexist murderer.

Having a mental illness does not make him any less guilty of this horrific crime. It’s not excusing him of the crime. He was fully conscious of what he was doing. He had it all planned out. He wanted to blame women for his shortcomings. He wrote a fucking manifesto that was well over 100 pages. He wanted to kill.

This is pretty serious stuff. Bayer might be about to overturn the EC’s decision to ban the pesticides implicated in killing off the bees! If they win this case, it could be truly disastrous for both the bees and our own future. Please share, and please see the SumOfUs link (no affiliation) to make a donation to help the campaign to save the bees.

Early in 2013, the European Food Safety Authority stated that three specific neonicotinoid insecticides (imidacloprid, clothianidin, and thiamethoxam) pose an acute risk to honeybees, and the European Commission proposed a two-year ban on them.

This is due to go into effect on Dec 1st – and the ban was introduced because of mounting scientific evidence that these insecticides, produced by Syngenta and Bayer, have been the agents responsible for Colony Collapse Disorder – a major problem threatening both the bees and the safety of our own food supply!

However in a horrifying twist, and despite huge public opposition, Syngenta and Bayer are now suing the European Commission over their “right” to continue to produce the pesticides which have been implicated in the massive die-off of millions of bees. Yes, their “right”. Because as we know, corporations’ sole agenda is to make money. They cannot let a trivial thing like nature get in their way.

These insecticides continue to be produced and used on a vast scale in the USA and in other countries and are huge moneymakers for the chemical corporations…

[x]

This threw up a few red flags when some of the links led to wiki pages but I looked up the lawsuit and it seems to be legit. Bayer is trying to lift the ban on pesticides that have been linked to the death of millions of bees in Europe. This is, unquestionably, terrible enough on its own, because bees are amazing little insects and deserve all our love, but if all the bees in the world go extinct, human life as we know it will change drastically. Produce will virtually cease to exist. That is a big freaking deal.

In addition to the donation page listed above, SumOfUs also has a petition going around that is still in need of signatures to help stop this. And it needs to be stopped. We cannot risk losing any more bees.

Bees get a pretty bad rap, but honestly? The scary, stingy things you’re afraid of? Most likely wasps. Bees, particularly honeybees and bumblebees, are just these fluffy little cuddle balls that fly around and pollinate stuff. They won’t sting you unless you’re a direct threat to them, because if they sting you, they’ll die. Don’t be scared of bees. Be scared for bees.

I’ve done as much looking around as I can because I know Tumblr is a cesspool of misinformation, and this looks as legit as it gets. Please tell people, sign the petition, and donate if you can.

And in the meantime, if you’re a gardner, please try to encourage bees to come to your garden. You can use the tips listed here. There’s also some information about different kinds of bees you might run into, in case you’d like to learn more about bees and why they’re wonderful.

Thanks for reading, guys. Please share this.

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION AND DONATE

They need 60K more signature and time is almost up! Please sign and reblog!

bees are important as fuck

I thought this was fake, because I thought “Hey, no human is really fucking braindead enough to think we can just kill off all the bees. We are literally alive because of bees. If we just killed them off, we’d all die.”

And then I Google’d this shit.

This isn’t fake. They’re actually killing millions of bees for no fucking reason.

Like are you guys serious? Pesticides are that important to you that you’re okay with risking the entire human race’s existence for them?

God people are stupid.

Go sign this thing.

HELP BEES.

BEES ARE VERY NECESSARY.

DO THE THING, GO ON.

IF IT HELPS I WILL DRAW BEES.

SO MANY BEES.

Worth watching

I don’t mean to impose a personal favour on you guys, but I really would like to ask that everyone who follows me reblog this.

I don’t think I made it very clear but last month I was sexually assaulted by someone who I thought was my friend (I don’t want to talk about it don’t ask), and it’s… really fucked with my head.

Had I known this a month ago I would have been able to get away

So, essentially, I’m really pleading with you to reblog this so everyone who follows you doesn’t get stuck in the same position I was with no way out.

I mean again I don’t want the point of this to be my sob story or whatever but if you could reblog this it would seriously mean a lot

and im asking to all of my followers who see this post in your dashboard to please press play to this video, you never know when this is gonna be useful, PLEASE DON’T IGNORE IT.

This is one of the first moves I was taught in Krav Maga, and it is one of the most effective.

It took me about a half hour to get down with practice, but once you get it, it’s an intuitive movement.

Please pass this along, it will save lives.

Important

Please reblog this.

Update. Announcement.

I guess some of you have noticed: I haven’t been active for a while.

I know. I know and I had a reason. I will try to explain, but I am not good with words, so I will probably be unable to express my thoughts in a way I find suitable. However, this is my reason:

I live with the constant feeling that I am just wasting my life, which has (not only) to do with the way I was brought up and with how my father has acted towards my brother and me. Lately, all of his comments and reactions have gotten to me (and by ‘lately’ I mean since the early 2013). Every minute of every hour I spend here, on Tumblr, on the internet, I am disgusted by my own behaviour and and my own life. I do not want this to be my life. I don’t want to look back someday and go: “Oh, that was the time I spent every spare minute sitting in front of my laptop, laughing at things that weren’t even funny, analysing things I wasn’t even interested in.” All of this has been random. I barely truly paid attention to anything.

This has to stop. The past seven days, I haven’t been on Tumblr at all, not even on the internet. And I feel fine. In fact, I feel a lot better than before. It might not be a secret to all of you that I feel a lot better when I am on my own, with no-one there to distract me (that includes websites like Tumblr). Maybe I am lonely at times, sure, I am, but I am conscious. I know what I do, I know who I am, I know where I am going. I don’t get lost in nothing , I don’t lose myself in irrelevance. I feel better. I don’t feel like I am wasting my life.

Please don’t get me wrong. I am not saying everything on here is irrelevant. It is not. I have met some truly amazing people on here, I got to know things that had quite an impact on me and a lot of them have actually been helpful.

Which is why I am going to stay around. But my visits are going to be less frequent, less random, less wasted.

I am not sure if you can assume my point of view, but I can assure you that continuing the way of life that has been mine for more than two years now would be unbearable and I hope none of you cares enough about me to miss my presence on here (that doesn’t include you, Franzi, I could never abandon you – and you know that).

This has been a long update.

Anyway, a happy last day of 2013 and a good 2014 to everyone who reads this.

See you.

reblog please…the media is asleep

“A puddle of the contaminated water was emitting 100 millisieverts an hour of radiation, Kyodo news agency said.

Masayuki Ono, general manager of Tepco, told Reuters news agency: “One hundred millisieverts per hour is equivalent to the limit for accumulated exposure over five years for nuclear workers; so it can be said that we found a radiation level strong enough to give someone a five-year dose of radiation within one hour.”

..and 300 tons of that same water has been pouring into the ocean everyday for God knows how long.

Reblog reblog reblog

Just to put a bit of a recap for those who haven’t heard or don’t know what’s happening:

Basically, the core of the plant has melted into the ground. They have two options: Keep trying to cool it and prevent it going further, which they are doing with seawater. However, this now contaminated seawater is leaking into the ground- the water table and the groundwater, and is spreading. Probably into the ocean, or, into farmland. It’s impossible to know where it’s heading right now. The other option is to dig it up, but that would release a very very dangerous amount of radiation, both in gas/dust form, and to the workers. It would be another suicide mission and contaminate the air ever worse.

Their options right now are being weighed, as to what can be done. As it stands.

as of today, this disaster has surpassed Chernobyl in terms of airborne radiation:

These are far larger amounts than those released into the atmosphere in gaseous form: for example, more than 27 times the amount of cesium-137 released into the air in the first three weeks, or about 2.5 to 3.3 times, depending on the estimate, the total amount released into the environment from the Chernobyl accident.

the official press release source is here, with their proposed outline of action.

I don’t want to turn this into a major nuclear discussion but… well, you already know.

We were planning to go to Japan this October, but because of this…we canceled. Just when my dream was so…so close.
