1. If someone wanted to really understand you, what would they read, watch, and listen to?
-> my tumblr, my instagram, my browser history, my sketchbook, my work diary and my camera roll.
4. Do you like your name? Is there another name you think would fit you better?
-> My name is Wiebke and I think it doesn’t suit me that well because it means woman and I don’t feel particularly feminine. The sound is okay though and its other meaning (warrior) is alright. I’d love to have a more gender-neutral name. In RPGS, I sometimes go by Niels, which is a boy’s name and too masculine if I use it on its own, so mostly I just use the initials W.N.R. (or just W or WR), combining WIebke, Niels and my last name.
15. five most influential books over your lifetime.
-> There’s more than five. Harry Potter. “Drachenreiter” and the Ink World trilogy by Cornelia Funke and “Eragon” by Christopher Paolini because they made my imagination burn inside my chest. “The Black Magician’s Guild” “The Age of the Five” by Trudi Canavan. All of my dad’s old books about faraway places, ancient civilisations and animals (and birds in particular). The Dragonball and Yu-Gi-Oh mangas my brother and me read over and over again. “Die Wellenläufer-Trilogie” und “Die Wolkenvolk-Trilogie” by Kai Meyer. Goethe’s “Faust”. “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”. Joanne Harris’ “Runemarks” made me learn Norse runes. There’s so many more – I basically spent my childhood and earlier teenage years reading all the time and missing out on life because I was so busy absorbing fictional worlds.
17. Would you say your tumblr is a fair representation of the “real you”?
-> It represents past me, but I have become a lot happier and a lot less frustrated and sad recently.
18. What’s your patronus?
-> My initial answer was “a pegasus or a unicorn” but that sounds incredibly conceited, so I don’t know. Something big and stong and powerful.
20. Would you rather be in Middle Earth, Narnia, Hogwarts, or somewhere else?
-> Middle Earth for the landscape (anecdote: I do everything for the landscape, I’ll probably study either landscape architecture oder landscape ecology in October). Hogwarts would be fun because it has magic in a relatively safe and familiar environment. I would want to be in a world where I could have magic powers such as flight or transformation though, and a world full of magical creatures.
29. three songs that you connect with right now.
-> David Bowie: “Heroes” (it made me cry yesterday when I was on the back of a pickup truck with the first group of people who truly accepted and honestly liked me and who made me feel acknowledged and good about myself). Muse: “Defector” and “Revolt” in contrast to “Mercy” and “Map of the Problematique” (I don’t feel connected to the songs in particular, but I did connect with MotP last year and don’t do so anymore). NOT Tame Impala: “Music to Walk Home By”and “Apocalypse Dreams” anymore (unlike the past two years)..
Idk, I just can’t connect to music they way I used to, when the songs filled my entire being. Being more content and happy has made the influence of music decrease drastically!
30. Pick one of your favorite quotes.
There used to be so many, but they don’t seem to apply anymore. I’ve changed a lot in the past few months and my life has kind of started again, leaving everything that happened so far as a vibrant, yet distant memory.
“But right now these moments are not stories. This is happening. (…) You are alive.” by Stephen Chbosky. Also “Every man is happy until happiness is suddenly a goal.” (from Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control by Tame Impala).
