i think the coolest thing would be to see a new color

right so theres this thing called the bullet shrimp 

imageand not only are these things totally badass and stylish

they have 16 colour cones in their vision

us humans only have 3

these things can literally see over 5 times as many colours as we can

literally they can look at what we would see as a completely black space and see thousands of colours we don’t even know exist

do you understand how fuCKING COOL THAT IS

not only that but they can punch a hole in an aquarium tank.

Milionia basalis (Geometridae) is a species of butterfly found in Japan, N.E. Himalaya, Burma and Sundaland, which occurs in a number of distinct races. The brilliant colored M. basalis pyrozona has been recorded in Peninsular Malaysia and Burma.

Have you ever seen a nightjar before? They got these tiny lil‘ faces with big ol‘ eyes BUT WHEN THEY OPEN THEIR MOUTHS it’s like :

nightjars are actually pretty interesting ! theyre mostly nocturnal and theyve actually got a bunch of stiff bristles around their beaks that can trap whatever gets close enough to that huge gaping beak maw while they fly, like whisker nets

some of the males ALSO have really ridiculous plumage like the pennant winged nightjar
